Groton submarine maker Electric Boat has won a $22.5-million contract amendment from the U.S. Navy, Connecticut politicians announced.
The amendment means the company will continue to develop joint missile compartments for Ohio class subs in the United States and United Kingdom.
Electric Boat has previously announced that it will lay off 180 workers between now and Jan. 10. It’s already cut 234 employees this year and is planning another round of 65 cuts early next month. Another 115 will be laid off in January, according to notices filed with the state Department of Labor.
