Norman Bell, editor of the Hartford Business Journal since early 2010, will be leaving the paper after the last issue in June.
“It’s time to turn the page,” Bell said. “I have some other writing projects that need my attention and this seems the right moment to step away.”
Group publisher Joe Zwiebel and publisher Gail Lebert have been conducting a national search and expect to have a new editor in place before Bell leaves.
“Norm came into our market and picked up the contacts and the news stream as if he had lived here all his life” says Lebert. “He accomplished a dramatic rework of the HBJ website and electronic newsletters, developed the popular summer series of news articles, and has mentored our reporters and interns in a positive way. We wish him well in his next adventure.”
During Bell’s tenure, the paper has been a perennial award winner in national competition run by the Alliance of Area Business Publications, a group of more than 70 peer publications.
Bell and his wife Lisa will be relocating to Las Vegas, Nev., where they own a home.
