Edible Arrangements plots overseas expansion

Wallingford franchisor Edible Arrangements says it will expand internationally, opening more than 100 franchise outlets over the next three years that produce and deliver its creative fresh-cut fruit arrangements and treats.

Founder-CEO Tariq Farid said Friday the company has chosen Britain’s World Franchise Associates to help identify prospective development partners specifically in the Gulf Cooperation Council member states — United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, and,Yemen — along with other markets in the Middle East, North Africa and Southeast Asia.

“My vision has always been for Edible Arrangements to become a source of enjoyment for people around the world — whether it’s a surprise arrangement arriving for special occasion, a group of friends grabbing a fresh fruit smoothie together, or someone with an entrepreneurial spirit realizing their dream by opening their own Edible store,” Farid said in a statement.

“Now that we have established an incredible brand with a strong foothold in the U.S., we see global expansion as one of the next major opportunities for growth,” he added.

Founded in East Haven in 1999, Edible Arrangements has more than 1,300 franchise locations open or under development worldwide.
