Farmington aerospace-parts maker Edac Technologies, Windsor software developer SS&C Technologies, and Cheshire drug maker Alexion Pharmaceuticals are among the Connecticut Technology Council’s 40 fastest-growing firms for 2010.
The technology council and accounting firm Marcum LLP grouped the awards on their 2010 Marcum Tech Top 40 into six sectors: software; information technology services; life sciences; advanced manufacturing; new media/Internet/telecom; and energy/environmental technologies.
Nominees were evaluated on revenue growth over the last four years. Companies considered for this recognition have at least $3 million in revenue, with some of the public companies exceeding $1 billion.
The list is made up primarily of privately held companies, but also includes 12 public companies, including, among others: Edac, SS&C, Alexion, Priceline.com, FuelCell Energy and FactSet Research.
Fairfield County is home to 17 companies, the most on the list; followed by Hartford and New Haven counties, each with nine.
“Connecticut is proud of its innovation heritage. This list reinforces each year that the state’s tech sector continues to grow and propser,” said council President and CEO Matthew Nemerson.
The top 40 will be honored Oct. 28 at the Oakdale Theater in Wallingford. At the event, six category winners will be announced.
