Farmington aerospace- and industrial-components maker Edac Technologies Corp. has signed a three-year, $5.3 million deal to supply rotating parts to an unidentified helicopter manufacturer.
The agreement has an option for an additional two-year extension, said CEO Dominick Pagano.
The deal lands Edac for the first time in the market of supplying rotorcraft components, an area in which the company is eager to diversify, he said in a statement.
Edac mainly has been involved in producing precision components for jet-engine maker Pratt & Whitney and others. The agreement pushes its order backlog to a record $140 million, Pagano said.
Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford is one of the world’s leading makers of civilian and military helicopters. Sikorsky did not immediately respond to calls Monday for comment.
At 11 a.m., Edac was up 21 cents, or 5.3 percent, at $4.18.
