EBTEC occupies new E. Windsor plant

Massachusetts electron-beam welding vendor EBTEC Corp. has relocated to its new manufacturing facility in East Windsor.

A unit of Cheshire manufacturer EDAC Technologies, EBTEC announced Thursday it relocated staff and installed new and existing production equipment at its 83,500-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility at 68 Prospect Hill Road — more than double the 35,000 square feet of its previous home. It was not immediately clear Friday how many workers EBTEC relocated to the new East Windsor site.

Among the new hardware is a five-axis Laserdyne laser machining system; CNC milling machines; plus a major overhaul of all its electron-beam welding technology.

EBTEC’s upgrades also allow it to now offer coating services with the recent acquisition of four air-plasma and high-velocity oxygen fuel coatings booths.

EBTEC, whose name is an abbreviation of “electron beam technology,” was founded in Agawam, Mass., in 1963 by a pair of young engineers, according to its website.
