Ebm-papst installs 480 solar panels

Fan and motor manufacturer ebm-papst upgraded its Farmington headquarters by installing 480 new solar panels and a more cost efficient heating and cooling system.

With complexes located in several countries around the world such as South Korea, New Zealand, and Germany, ebm-papst’s recent efforts to reform its production facilities in terms of cost-efficiency and emission reduction have relied on solar arrays and the company’s own HVAC products.

As part of this development strategy – headlined as the GreenTech campaign – ebm-papst turned to its U.S. headquarters in Farmington by redesigning its administrative and production facility buildings. Both will receive 480 solar panels, a heat-reflective rubber-membrane roof, and new inverters, as well as a 15-unit HVAC system designed by ebm-papst with an increased seasonal energy efficiency ratio.

Solar energy will power ebm-papst’s own cooling and heating systems, saving up to 550 kilowatt hours per day. All units will rely on web-based control and monitoring.

These investments follow earlier upgrades of solar panels in 2011 and 2012, which also were installed to power HVAC systems manufactured by ebm-papst.
