Eastern CT Harley dealer going solar

A New London motorcycle dealership said it plans to generate all of the electricity it needs with roof-mounted solar panels.

Mike’s Famous Harley Davidson has hired Danbury’s Ross Solar Group to install the 156-kilowatt SunPower system.

Ross, which helped the retailer get private financing from Stamford’s Greenworks Lending – a private lending affiliate of the Connecticut Green Bank’s C-PACE program – said construction is slated to begin this fall and the system could be turned on by year’s end.

Formerly headquartered in Groton, Mike’s moved to a former Coca Cola bottling plant in New London after buying it in 2013.
