Eastern CT building 13MW of solar

The Connecticut Municipal Electric Energy Cooperative, which has member utilities in Groton, Norwich and several other eastern Connecticut boroughs and districts, is developing 13 megawatts of solar power systems and at least 1.5 megawatts of energy-storage systems.

CMEEC is working with SolarCity and Brightfields Development to build the projects in Bozrah, Norwich and Groton.

The projects, which are expected to be completed by year’s end, will serve more than 70,000 homes and businesses in six Connecticut municipalities and a group of Massachusetts towns.

CMEEC has signed a 20-year purchase agreement with SolarCity and its financing partners, which will build, own and operate the systems.
