East Lyme’s Public Works Move

The town of East Lyme has paid $1.5 million to purchase the former JY Sailboat manufacturing facility as the new home for the town’s public works department.

DW Realty sold the 30,000 square-foot high-bay warehouse and two adjacent vacant lots at 8 Capitol Drive.

The facility, built in 2001, sat vacant for about 18 months after JY Sailboat was sold to Hunter Composite Technologies, said O,R&L’s Tim McMahon, who brokered the deal.

The town will use the site as a centralized location for its public works fleet and equipment. The town unanimously approved the sale last September.
