An 11-acre retail plaza off Route 5 in East Hartford sold for $6.7 million in a deal recorded Dec. 8.
East Hartford Development Director Eileen Buckheit said a broker representing the new owners said they plan to install a roughly 23,000-square-foot Indian grocery as an anchor tenant. Buckheit said the new owners also plan to complete a façade renovation started under the prior owner.
The nearly 150,000-square-foot plaza at the corner of Ellington Road and School Street also hosts a fitness center, Dunkin’ Donuts and other tenants.
New Jersey-based real estate investment company Signature Acquisitions sold the plaza at 265 Ellington Road to 265 Connecticut, a limited liability company listing the plaza as its address.
The principals of the buyer are Desh Deepak Bhardwaj of Roslyn Heights, N.Y., and Jaswinder Singh of Greenvale, N.Y., according to state records.
Attempts to reach the partners were unsuccessful.
