East Hartford-based construction supply company NEFCO has opened a new branch in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the latest in a string of expansions.
NEFCO now has more than 70 locations nationwide, which it has amassed through a combination of acquisitions and organic growth. It says the 22,500-square-foot Cedar Rapids facility marks its 19th organic branch opening.
The family-operated company has been backed by private equity funding since 2022. It
recently changed hands as former owner Bertram Capital sold NEFCO to Leonard Green & Partners in January.
Bertram’s investment in the company in 2022 began a period of rapid growth for NEFCO; recent acquisitions have included companies in Massachusetts, Texas, Louisiana, South Carolina, Kentucky, Ohio and Indiana.
The company is known for its core portfolio of specialty hardware products as well as a broad mix of power tools, safety equipment, and general jobsite supplies.
