East Hartford-based Horizon Services Corp., a commercial cleaning contractor, has been acquired by an out-of-state firm expanding into the Northeast, the companies announced this week.
4M Building Solutions, a St. Louis-based commercial cleaning and janitorial services company, has purchased Horizon Services for an undisclosed amount.
Horizon manages a team of 500 employees and has cleaning contracts across 175 sites in Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island. The company cleans more than 8 million square feet daily, it said, in industries such as education, health care and wellness and manufacturing.
Following the acquisition, Horizon will still operate under its existing name and retain its autonomy and leadership under founder Ted Hsu, who started the company in Manchester in 1991.
