Earnings increase for CT workers

The state Department of Labor’s monthly labor situation indicates private sector and manufacturing jobs saw wage increases year over year. The number of hours worked also saw increases.

The report, which covered November 2015, said average weekly earnings for the private sector increased from $980.17 to $1,010.90. Earnings also increased from October 2015’s average of $992.80. The numbers are not seasonally adjusted, according to the Department of Labor.

In the manufacturing sector, average weekly wages increased from $983.66 in November 2014 to $1,126.18 in November 2015. They also showed an increase from $1,071.63 in October 2015.

Average hourly earnings in the private sector increased from $28.66 to $29.82 year over year. In the manufacturing sector, average hourly earnings jumped from $23.76 in November 2014 to $26.75 in November 2015.

One area where the numbers drop is hours worked in the private sector. In November 2014 the private sector worked an average of 34.2 hours compared to 33.9 in November 2015. The manufacturing sector saw an increase in hours worked in the same timeframe from 41.4 per week to 42.1 hours.
