Total Communications Inc. in East Hartford has been hired as a subcontractor by software/information services giant Cisco Systems Inc. to help provide information-technology products and support to the state of Connecticut and other public agencies.
Total CEO Richard Lennon said Friday that Cisco invited Total to partner on its Connecticut purchasing contract, largely due to Total’s extensive experience servicing the public sector. The state also reviewed and approved Total’s subcontractor application, Lennon said.
Financial terms of the Cisco master contract and Total’s subcontract weren’t disclosed.
The co-op agreement, Lennon said, streamlines purchasing of data products and service for state and colleges, municipalities and public education, who can take advantage of contract discounts without issuing a formal bid.
