E-book settlement payments coming

Connecticut residents who were a party to a 2012 settlement over price fixing of e-books will begin receiving their payments this week, Attorney General George Jepsen’s office announced.

Connecticut residents are in line to split up $3 million from five major publishers. The money was part of an overall $166 million settlement that involved 32 other states. Apple declined to settle the allegations against it. The company is appealing a judge’s June 2013 ruling that it played a central role in the price fixing.

The money is coming now because the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York recently approved the payments, Jepsen said.

Amounts received will be based on the number of eligible e-book purchases from April 1, 2010 to May 21, 2012.
