Dur-A-Flex Inc., which offers seamless commercial and industrial flooring systems around the world, employees 70 people in Connecticut and they are all referred to as “owners.” As Ed Cullen, chief financial officer of the East Hartford-based company explains, “That distinction is very important to us because it describes both our expectations and our culture better than the word ‘employee.’”
According to Cullen, “what makes the company a great place to work is our people, who understand how important each and everyone’s role is to the continued success of our product and our culture.”
“Employee well being is key. Over the past year, we added a Dur-A-Flex ‘boot camp’ to our facility with a professional nutritionist who can help our ‘owners’ with their commitments to better personal health.”
