Nora L. Duncan has been named state director for AARP in Connecticut.
For the past year, Duncan has served as the executive director of The Arc Connecticut, a nonprofit working with the developmentally disabled.
Duncan represented over 1,000 nonprofit organizations for nine years in her dual role as public policy director at the Connecticut Association of Nonprofits and project director of the Connecticut Nonprofit Human Services Cabinet. In late 2007, she joined the Policy and Legislative Affairs Team in the Office of Governor M. Jodi Rell.
Prior to joining The Arc Connecticut, Duncan worked as the legislative program manager for the Connecticut Department of Public Works. She also worked with Harvest Development Group, a philanthropy consulting firm.
She is a member of the Hartford Business Journal’s “40 Under Forty” class of 2009.
Duncan will fill the position formerly held by Brenda Kelley, who retired earlier this month.
AARP, a national advocate group for those over the age of 50, has more than 600,000 members in Connecticut.
