Former Cigna executive Val Dumais has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Main Street Community Foundation.
Dumais, who was employed at Cigna Healthcare for 31 years and retired as the vice president of national accounts, is the chairperson of the Plainville Economic Development Agency.
He is a former town councilman and the former chairperson for the Plainville Insurance Commission. He has served on the Board of Directors for the United Way of West Central Connecticut, the Board of Managers for Wheeler Regional YMCA and the Plainville Board of Education.
The Main Street Community Foundation is a nonprofit public charity, and works with donors in Bristol, Burlington, Plainville, Plymouth, Southington and Wolcott.

Jeffrey D. Manning, physician and medical director of Sports Medicine Associates in Danielson, is being honored by the American Academy of Family Physicians Foundation for his commitment to education in the field of family medicine. Dr. Manning was selected to receive a Pfizer Teacher Development Award based on his scholastic achievement, leadership qualities and dedication to family medicine.
In addition seeing patients at Sports Medicine Associates and Day Kimball’s walk-in center in Plainfield, Dr. Manning is also a part-time instructor in the Department of Family Medicine at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University and The University of Massachusetts.
