Duck Stamp art contest chooses 2014 winner

The Department of Energy & Environmental Protection has selected its winner for the 2014 Duck Stamp art contest.

The Connecticut Duck Stamp Program, which has been active since the early 1990s and is modeled after the federal Duck Stamp Program, will be represented next year by the work of wildlife artist John Brennan.

Connecticut requires anyone wishing to legally hunt waterfowl to purchase a state Duck Stamp with their hunting license. Through the program and matching federal grants, DEEP has raised more than $4 million, which is used exclusively for specific areas in developing and preserving waterfowl wildlife.

Duck Stamp funds have helped to purchase 75 acres of wildlife habitat and benefited more than 3,145 acres of wetlands across the state.
