Dr. Vasanth Kainkaryam has been named chief medical officer for East Hartford-based First Choice Health Centers, which says it’s the largest principal safety net provider on the east side of the Connecticut River with 15 locations and serving 57 schools in East Hartford, Manchester and Vernon. Kainkaryam is a board-certified internist and pediatrician.
He was formerly the medical director of the Hartford HealthCare Health Center, a primary care practice resulting from a collaboration between Hartford HealthCare and Boston-based Iora Health.
He is also an assistant clinical professor of medicine at Quinnipiac University Frank H. Netter School of Medicine and assistant clinical professor of medicine at UConn School of Medicine School.
