The developer of Hartford’s new minor league ballpark and accompanying Downtown North development wants to add a hotel to the project.
DoNo Hartford LLC, which is led by Middletown’s Centerplan Development, is asking the city council and planning and zoning commission to approve the hotel before it can move forward with the addition. According to the city, all of the existing components of the proposed development (grocery store, retail, residential and structured parking) remain in the development. The size of the grocery store (40,000 square feet) is also not changed in Centerplan’s requested modification.
Darrell V. Hill, Hartford’s chief operating officer, told the city council he is generally in favor of the changes after an initial review. “Upon initial review [this] appears to be positive for our city and the Downtown North project. In the coming days and weeks, we will provide fuller perspective regarding our review of the requested modifications,” he wrote.
The $350 Downtown North development includes the $56 million Double-A minor league ballpark that will host the Hartford Yard Goats.
