Downtown Newington retail center for bid

The 70,934-square-foot downtown Newington shopping center that houses shops and a post office is headed to the auction block next month, authorities say.

The unidentified owner’s trustee ordered the property at 75 and 103-175 Lowrey Place auctioned March 21 at 11 a.m. at the Hawthorne Inn, 2421 Berlin Turnpike in Berlin, auctioneer Max Spann Real Estate & Auction Co. said Friday.

Property previews are set for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Feb. 28, March 7 and March 12.

The shopping center situated on 11.7 acres, includes 9,332-square feet leased to the U.S. Post Office as well as a 33,300-square-foot vacant space that is ready for an anchor. The property includes 10 additional retail spaces totaling 28,302 square feet, several of which are currently leased.
