Hartford emergency crews are on the scene of a partial building collapse near 241 Asylum St. downtown, authorities say.
Police, fire and building inspectors are on site near the Cast Iron Building, portions of whose facade have fallen, the mayor’s office says. The building is next door to Goodwin Square.
A city spokeswoman says it is uncertain whether the collapse is related to a tremblor earllier today that struck Connecticut and other parts of the East Coast during an earthquake that originated in central Virginia.
The building’s management company is also on the scene.
Part of Asylum Street is closed which will affect downtown traffic.
Crews will remain in the area until it is deemed safe.
