New Haven’s Graduate Hotel on Chapel Street will be featured in a new discovery+ miniseries on cutting-edge interior design, the hotel announced Thursday.
The show, called “Handcrafted Hotels,” will air its New Haven episode on May 6.
The miniseries follows Graduate Hotels CEO and founder Ben Weprin and his team as they explore their design of four properties on the East Coast.
“‘Handcrafted Hotels’ will uncover the stories behind the stories at each Graduate Hotels property, as well as a detailed look at the creation of the one-of-a-kind pieces that reside within each hotel,” the company said in a statement.
The other hotel properties featured are located in Nashville and Knoxville, Tenn., and Chapel Hill, N.C. All of the hotels serve large university campuses: Yale, Vanderbilt, the University of Tennessee and the University of North Carolina.
“‘Handcrafted Hotels’ will offer a completely new understanding of the design process behind each of our properties, as well as a strong appreciation for the incredible artists in our markets that give each destination a distinct personality and sense of place,” Weprin said.
The show was created in partnership with home TV stars Chip and Joanna Gaines, the Magnolia Network and discovery+.
At the site of the former Hotel Duncan on Chapel, the Graduate Hotel features a Yale-inspired color scheme and decor and works by campus and local artists.
