A downtown building anchored by the ZINC New Haven and Kitchen ZINC restaurants sold recently for $2.8 million.
George Zdru sold the property, at 962-964 Chapel St., New Haven, to 962-964 Chapel Street, LLC. The buyer’s principal is listed as Alexander Clark of North Haven, according to the Secretary of the State’s office.
Stephen Press of Press/Cuozzo Realtors in Hamden was the sole broker in the transaction, and Press marketed the investment property for its location in downtown and proximity to Yale University.
The 11,111-square-foot, three-story brick building has two restaurants on the ground floor, with ZINC New Haven facing Chapel Street and Kitchen ZINC to the rear facing a courtyard and patio. The upper floors have three loft-style residential apartments. According to Press, the property was fully renovated in 1995.
Zdru bought it in 1995 for $195,000, according to city records. The city last appraised it as being valued at $1.5 million.
