DOT to hold public hearing on busway

The Connecticut Department of Transportation will host a public hearing on Thursday to discuss the closing of the highway/railroad at-grade crossing on Flower Street in Hartford as part of the planned Hartford-New Britain busway.

The busway – now rebranded at CTfastrak – will install a dedicated roadway exclusively for buses from New Britain to Hartford along the Interstate 84 corridor. State and transportation officials hope the quicker form of transportation will encourage more people to trade in their cars for public transportation.

The hearing will be start at 8 a.m. Thursday at DOT headquarters at 2800 Berlin Turnpike in Newington.
