DOT seeks feedback on I-84 Hartford interchange project

On April 20 and 25, the state Department of Transportation will host planning sessions in Hartford and East Hartford to get feedback from the public on its highway renovation plans.

Both sessions are from 4 to 8 p.m. with a DOT presentation at 5:30 and I-84 / I-91 interchange study and multimodal station workshop at 6:15. The April 20 session will be at the Hartford Public Library. The April 25 session will be at East Hartford’s Raymond Library.

The I-84/I-91 study is aimed at determining the feasibility of redesigning the interchange to improve mobility and reduce congestion. The I-84 Hartford Project is intended to address structural deficiencies and improve traffic safety and mobility on I-84 and its interchanges between Flatbush Avenue and I-91 in Hartford.

Planners at the meetings will present a new design alternative that includes bringing the highway to ground or below-ground level, DOT said.
