Beginning Jan. 11, westbound access from Route 2 to the Founders Bridge will be closed until the anticipated completion in November 2016.
The work on the bridge, which connects Hartford with East Hartford, is being conducted as part of the ongoing $22 million bridge replacement and rehabilitation project within the Route 2 / I-84 Interchange.
DOT said in a statement lane closures on Route 2, I-84 and associated ramps may occur nightly between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. Times will vary based on the day of the week and location of the closure. Lane closures on adjacent streets and unassociated ramps may occur Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, or 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. nightly.
Intermittent 10-minute traffic shut downs between the hours of midnight and 5 a.m. are anticipated on I-84 Eastbound near Exit 55 for demolition and girder installation activities.
Periodic weekend closures of the I-84 eastbound connector from Founders Bridge and connector from I-84 westbound to Route 2 eastbound are also anticipated and detours will be implemented.
