Doro Marketplace is planning to open a new cafe and bakery restaurant in Enfield, marking what would be the growing Connecticut chain’s seventh location.
The West Hartford-based restaurant group has filed a site plan application with the town seeking approval for a tenant fit-out at 98 Elm St., within an existing commercial building occupied in part by cannabis retailer Zen Leaf.
According to application materials, Doro Marketplace would occupy two adjacent tenant spaces totaling 4,062 square feet, creating a full-service cafe and bakery with indoor seating for 76 customers. The space is currently a vacant shell, and plans call for a complete interior buildout, including a commercial kitchen.
The proposal also includes an 824-square-foot outdoor patio with seating for 38 patrons.
Doro Marketplace currently operates locations in West Hartford, Windsor Locks, Wethersfield, Old Saybrook, Plainville and Avon, according to a project narrative submitted to the town.
The application says no major changes are planned for the building’s storefront. Exterior work would be limited to repainting a green facade wall to match the rest of the building, along with the addition of signage and lighting, which would be subject to separate permit applications.
Plans show the restaurant would have a maximum occupancy of 145 people, including indoor and outdoor seating.
The property is owned by Elm Street Enfield LLC, affiliated with Chicago-based cannabis company Verano Holdings, according to application materials.
