Energy provider Dominion said it has awarded a combined $30,000 in educational grants to the Connecticut Science Center in Hartford and three schools in the state.
The science center will receive $5,000, which it will use to support an environmental education program at Bennie Dover Middle School in New London.
Another New London school, Interdistrict School for Arts and Communications, will get $10,000 for students to study the influence of humans on the environment.
Ella T. Grasso Southeastern Technical High School in Groton will also get $10,000, to convert a gas-powered car to run on battery and a fuel cell.
And Kolbe Cathedral High School in Bridgeport will get $5,000 for its urban infrastructure program.
Dominion owns Millstone Nuclear Power Station in Waterford.
