Connecticut nuclear operator Dominion distributed its 100,000th tree in its Project Plant It!, a program to educate children on the importance of trees in the ecosystem.
In Project Plant It!, Dominion sends participating schools instruction kits and lesson plans on trees, and each student receives a seedling to plant at home. The company operates the program in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina and Wisconsin.
The 100,000th tree was distributed on Tuesday at an elementary school in Norfolk, Va.
Dominion operates the Millstone Power Station nuclear plant in Waterford, which generates more than half of Connecticut’s electricity.
