Dollar General to enter CT with new stores

Value retailer Dollar General Corp. is eyeing Connecticut in its ambitious plan to open 625 new stores and add 6,000 new jobs in fiscal 2011.

The exact number of Connecticut stores and their locations could not be immediately determined.

New Hampshire and Nevada also are new states the Goodlettsville, Tenn., retailer says it will enter.

Dollar General has 9,000 stores in 35 states.

The chain already is in New England, with nine stores in Vermont.

Dollar General’s expansion could be good news for FM Facility Maintenance in East Hartford, which handles facilities maintenance for the chain’s outlets.
