The Shops at Yale will present its 4th annual Appetizer & Dessert Crawl from 12 to 4 p.m. May 7 to raise money for the local animal shelter.
The food event will showcase downtown New Haven’s culinary offerings, with proceeds to benefit the Robin I. Kroogman New Haven Animal Shelter. A dog adoption event is happening at the same time, at Broadway Island, at 56 Broadway, New Haven.

The day’s events will include live jazz music, a roaming magician, face painting, free dog caricatures, prizes and dogs available for adoption. The dog adoption is free and open to the public, while the Appetizer & Dessert Crawl is a ticketed event.
Event organizers said it will showcase downtown New Haven’s culinary scene while supporting a great cause.
David DelVecchio, director of real estate asset management for Yale University Properties, said The Shops at Yale to date has donated more than $10,000 to the animal shelter from this event.
All proceeds go to the shelter, and the goal this year is to make a $3,500 donation, according to DelVecchio.
“We are fortunate to have generous merchants who are willing to partner with us to help support our community,” said DelVecchio.
During the event, guests will enjoy appetizer and dessert samples from 14 restaurants and eateries at The Shops at Yale for $20, plus a $3.18 processing fee. Ticket purchases include free parking and exclusive one-day-only shopping offers. All participants who purchase tickets before April 28 will be automatically entered to win a $100 gift card to lululemon or Villa Lulu.
Participating restaurants include Anchor Spa, Ashley’s Ice Cream, Donut Crazy, Heirloom at The Study at Yale, Loose Leaf Boba Company, Maison Mathis, Old Heidelberg at Graduate New Haven, Pacifico Restaurant, Pedals Smoothie & Juice Bar, Shake Shack, Sherkaan Indian Street Food, Villa Lulu, Yamasaki Teriyaki and Yorkside Pizza and Restaurant.
Free parking will be available at the 150 York Street Garage for both Appetizer & Dessert Crawl ticket holders and dog adoption event attendees. Parking garage tickets will be validated at The Shops at Yale tent on Broadway Island from noon to 4 p.m.
