Connecticut TV journalist Diane Smith will receive Wednesday night the governor’s top honor for her lifelong contribution to state culture and tourism.
Smith, of West Hartford and Norwalk, is an Emmy-award winning news anchor, documentary producer, author and former Hartford radio co-host.
Also receiving governor’s awards will be Barkley L. Hendricks, a New London visual artist and art professor at Connecticut College; the Connecticut Humanities Council in Middletown, the state’s affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities; and ESPN, the 24-hour sports programmer in Bristol.
Gov. M. Jodi Rell will present the awards at a 6:30 p.m. ceremony in the atrium of the Legislative Office Building in Hartford.
