Developers say high-density housing a must

Connecticut’s building regulations – and its people – often put up harmful barriers to smart growth, two developers told an assembly of real estate professionals at Wednesday night’s annual Real Estate Exchange event. Many of the state’s great early development projects, such as mill towns’ employee housing or even Bradley Airport, would be bogged down in endless regulatory proceedings today, said R. Michael Goman of Konover Development Corp. He and Ted Carman of Concord Square Development Co. also spoke about the need for Connecticut residents to embrace development projects that included high-density housing.
