A group of developers plans to transform a 419-acre former Remington Arms ammunition site in Bridgeport and Stratford into an energy park and nature preserve.
East Granby-based Kinsley Energy Systems has partnered with Middletown-based Triad Advanced Energy Development and California-based Tritec Americas to install a solar project on 51 acres of the property. The project will include a 4-megawatt solar array and up to two 250-megawatt battery energy storage systems.
The proposed Lake Success Energy Park would generate revenue to support management and maintenance of a 368-acre nature preserve that includes a 23-acre lake, wetlands and urban forest.
Remington Arms used the property from 1906 to 1989 for munitions manufacturing and testing, according to Michaud Law Group, which is representing the project. The site is now owned by Sporting Goods Properties Inc., a subsidiary of chemical company DuPont that later became Corteva Agriscience.
