An Easton developer plans to construct a three-story mixed-use building that would have ground-floor retail and 20 apartments on the upper floors, according to an application filed with the town’s Planning and Zoning Commission.
715 Main St. LLC, controlled by Stephen Shapiro, has proposed erecting the building on a 1.6-acre parcel at 715 Main St. The plan includes razing a single-family home on the property.
The development would have three retail spaces across 8,902 square feet of space on the ground floor and 10 apartments each on the second and third floors, the application shows. The one-bedroom apartments would range in size from 775 square feet to 850 square feet.
Shapiro said he is under contract to buy the property, pending Planning and Zoning Commission approval. He said the commission approved a proposed text amendment two weeks ago that allows the development to be built in a Special Development District that requires housing to be built on a minimum of 15 acres.
He said the project would generate tax revenue and add smaller housing options for young residents and downsizers.
The Planning and Zoning Commission is scheduled to either approve or deny the proposal on May 7, Shapiro said.
