A Plantsville developer has applied for a zone change to build a 148-unit multifamily housing development in Manchester — one of the largest residential proposals the town has seen in recent years.
3 Squared LLC is seeking to rezone the wooded property to allow construction of the multifamily complex, which would include 335 parking spaces and connections to the Hockanum River Trail.
The 21-acre site at 206 Oakland St. currently consists of woodlands and is adjacent to a cemetery.
On Monday, the Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously granted a 30-day extension for the applicant to submit additional materials.
The commission has not yet scheduled a public hearing.
3 Squared LLC is controlled by Nicholas Martino, Louis Roy Evjen, both of Southington, and Isaac Shweky of Cheshire. The company has applied for approval of a Planned Residential Development zone change and an erosion and sedimentation control plan.
The development would contain a mix of two- and three-bedroom units across multiple building types, including slab construction, walkout units and built-in garage apartments.
3 Squared LLC
recently sold a property for $450,000 at 14 North Main St., in Manchester, which previously housed a Bank of America branch. A mixed-use, 33-unit luxury apartment complex was approved for the property, but the project never materialized.
