A developer has submitted a refreshed plan to build a 40-unit rental community in Newington.
Patrick Snow earlier this month submitted an application to build a 40-unit rental community on 5.9 acres of mostly undeveloped woodlands in Newington, located southeast of the intersection of Kitts Lane and Ann Street.
The site consists of four properties: 220 and 226 Kitts Lane, each containing two single-family houses, which would be demolished; and two wooded parcels at 226 Kitts Lane Rear and 244 Kitts Lane.
This is the second plan that Snow has submitted to develop the site.
Last August, he purchased the properties for $1.15 million and proposed building a 44-unit rental community on-site.
According to his latest proposal, 12 of the 40 units (or 30%) would be set aside “for 40 years for moderate income households in compliance” with the state’s 8-30g affordable housing statutes.
The property would include 10 rows of townhouses, with each townhouse containing two to 10 units.
Each townhouse unit will have its own private driveway, entrance, patio, garage and in-unit washer and dryer.
The units will be two levels; the first floor will have a dining room, living room and kitchen; bedrooms will be on the second floor.
There will be a total of 109 parking spaces on-site.
The two-bedroom units will range from 1,125 to 1,670 square feet, and the three-bedroom units will be 1,400 square feet.
The project application was raised during the Town Plan and Zoning Commission's July 9 meeting.
