New Britain-based developer Avner Krohn has acquired the old Post Office building at 114 West Main St. with plans to renovate the office building and find new tenants.
Krohn, owner of Jasko Development, paid $775,000 for the 36,530-square-foot office building, he said.
The seller was the Knaus family and Old Post Office Plaza LLC.
The deal was finalized June 2, according to city records.
In addition to purchasing the old post office building, the sale also included the purchase of 50 Court St., a 0.3-acre overflow parking lot.

Krohn said the old post office building currently has about eight tenants and is half filled. He said he plans on significant renovations to the property including $300,000 in to improve the building’s exterior. Even more will be spent to spruce up the interior of the building.
Improvements will include repaving the parking lot; installing new landscaping; building new retaining walls; adding accent lighting; and historically appropriate interior upgrades. The improvements, which began earlier this month, will take about two months to complete, he said.
Krohn said he hopes to have the old post office building completely occupied by the summer of 2023.
The old post office building is appraised at $663,000 while the overflow parking lot is appraised at $68,200, according to city records.
