Former Congressman Larry DeNardis says he has decided to seek the Republican nomination for Connecticut governor, the Associated Press reports.
DeNardis’ Facebook page says he will be announcing his candidacy this morning at the Eli Whitney Museum in his hometown of Hamden.
The 71-year-old DeNardis served in the state Senate in the 1970s and had one term in the U.S. House of Representatives in the early 1980s when Republicans were in the majority. He also was president of the University of New Haven for 13 years.
DeNardis will join a crowded field of candidates for governor that includes fellow Republicans Tom Foley, former U.S. ambassador to Ireland, and Lt. Gov. Michael Fedele. (AP)
