DeMeola joins University of Connecticut School of Law

Karen DeMeola has been named the inaugural assistant dean for diversity, belonging and community engagement at the University of Connecticut School of Law.

DeMeola is a 1996 UConn Law graduate who joined the law school staff in 2000 after working as a civil rights litigator. 

She has served in several roles at the law school, including director of admissions and most recently assistant dean for finance and administration. She has also taught diversity and inclusion in the legal profession and critical identity theory.

In 2017, DeMeola became the first person of color to serve as president of the Connecticut Bar Association.
