Connecticut’s deer hunting season made it through the third consecutive year without an injury related to the discharge of a firearm or bow, as the only hunting-related injury was a hunter without a safety harness falling from a tree.
The state has experienced one injury related to the discharge of a firearm or bow during hunting season only once since 2007.
Connecticut issued 300,000 deer hunting permits in 2013.
The Department of Energy & Environmental Protection Wildlife Division offers a schedule of its upcoming safety classes at www.ct.gov/deep/hunting.
