The Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection recognized 19 businesses and individuals for their environmental efforts.
The GreenCircle Awards, in its 14th year, recognized businesses and people in Beacon Falls, Berlin, Bethel, Bristol, Danbury, Durham, East Hartford, Madison, Milford, New London, Norwalk, Old Saybrook, South Norwalk, Stratford, Torrington, Wallingford, and Watertown.
The businesses that were recognized included Berlin manufacturer Precision Punch Corp. for its energy consumption reduction, Bethel publisher Sumner Communications for using recycled fiber, Bristol broadcaster ESPN for its energy efficient day care, Danbury manufacturer Branson Ultrasonics Corp. for reducing hazardous material use, and East Hartford manufacturer Pratt & Whitney for its Connecticut river cleanup.
Also honored were the Northrump Grumman Corp., Olympic Steel, Saybrook Point Inn, and NRG Energy, Inc.
