The Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection on Tuesday is forecasting unhealthy air for Tuesday and Wednesday, as the hot weather is mixing with air pollution.
The ozone, or smog, warning is for sensitive groups such as the elderly, children and those with asthma in Fairfield, New Haven, Middlesex and New London counties.
Ozone is caused when hot temperatures combine with air pollution from vehicles or power plants. The majority of Connecticut air pollution for ozone is caused by emissions that drift downwind from New York and other states.
