DEEP offers more than $1 M for pumpout stations

More than $1 million in federal funds are available for boat sewage disposal facilities on the Long Island Sound for the 2015 boating season.

Connecticut’s Department of Energy & Environmental Protection administered the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service’s Clean Vessel Act grant program to keep coastal waters clean and safe for recreational boaters. Connecticut was one of several states receiving the highest grant award in the country this year.

DEEP is also requesting grant proposals from public or private marine facilities that wish to install new marine sewage disposal facilities, or facilities with an existing MSDF in need of repairs.

All recreational pumpout facilities in Connecticut are now offering free service to boaters to encourage keeping the waters clean.
