DEEP offers $360K for biz to buy trucks

The Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection will make $360,000 available for businesses, municipalities, and individuals to replace heavy-duty diesel trucks with new, low-emission trucks.

Replacement vehicles do not have to be diesel-powered trucks, as long as they meet U.S. Environmental Protection Agency emissions standards. Funding will be limited to 25 percent of the cost of the new truck, before tax.

The funds come from federal court ruling against the Ohio-based American Electric Power Service Corp., which forced the company to put forth the funds to reduce air pollution.
