The Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection is looking to dole out more than $1 million in federal grant money for boat sewage disposal facilities for the 2016 boating season.
The program, administered with money from the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, is for pumpout stations on Long Island Sound and Candlewood Lake.
Owners and operators of public and private marine facilities are encouraged to reach out to DEEP about installing or repairing sewage disposal facilies. Applications must be received by Aug. 20.
Up to 75 percent of the cost of a project can be reimbursed under the program. More than $13 million has been awarded to Connecticut organizations since 1993 to fund 637 projects.
