DEEP doles out $60K for recycling

Seven cities and towns will share more than $60,000 in state funds to enhance their local waste reduction and recycling programs, according to the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.

DEEP’s Recycling Incentive Grants program is aimed at communities with existing waste reduction and recycling programs and at those who want to create such programs.

Mansfield received $6,800 for a school-based food waste program, while Hebron received $6,000 for a recycling education campaign. The largest grant, $20,000, went to Greenwich for a composting program.
